Dates with context

Evidence, Islamic-day timing and when not to delay needed treatment.

The recommended dates matter, but so does understanding when the Islamic day begins and that genuine treatment need is not restricted to three dates.

Why the 17th, 19th and 21st?

The dates come from hadith, not from a modern wellness trend.

It is important to quote the evidence accurately and not make every circulating date claim equal.

Sunan Abi Dawud 3861

Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported a narration recommending cupping on the 17th, 19th and 21st. Sunnah.com records the narration as Hasan according to Al-Albani.

Sahih al-Bukhari 5680–5681

Authentic narrations in Sahih al-Bukhari mention cupping positively among forms of treatment. These establish the place of cupping in the Prophetic tradition without turning it into a guaranteed cure for every modern diagnosis.

Keep grades separate

Different narrations about dates, points and virtues do not all have the same grading. Where a report is disputed or weak, we do not present it with the same certainty as an agreed authentic narration.

Practical booking

Points and preparation without invented rules.

Authentic references are kept separate from fixed body-map claims, and preparation remains practical.

Sunnah points

Authentic references exist for some areas, but Hijama is not a fixed body map.

Religious evidence should not be mixed with internet diagrams that assign a disease to every cup position.

Neck and upper back

Sunan Abi Dawud 3860 reports cupping at the two veins at the sides of the neck and the upper back/shoulder area, and records the narration as Sahih according to Al-Albani.

Point selection is still individual

Authentic references do not mean every client should receive exactly the same points. We consider your reason for booking, safe anatomical placement and the amount of coverage you selected.

No disease-by-dot charts

We do not tell clients that a specific mark or cup position proves an organ problem, sihr, “blocked energy” or a diagnosis. Those claims go beyond what the evidence supports.

Common questions

Straight answers before you book.

These are the practical questions clients ask most often. If your situation is more specific, message us before booking.

Are the 17th, 19th and 21st the Sunnah Hijama days?

They are the dates most commonly chosen based on narrations including Sunan Abi Dawud 3861, graded Hasan by Al-Albani. We publish the corresponding Gregorian dates each month.

Does the Sunnah day start the night before?

Yes. An Islamic date begins at Maghrib. So if the 17th falls on Friday, the 17th begins at Maghrib on Thursday evening.

Is Hijama invalid on other days?

No. The 17th, 19th and 21st are commonly chosen Sunnah Hijama dates based on narrations, and many clients prefer them. Scholars have differed over the strength and application of the timing reports, so we do not tell clients that Hijama is only valid on those dates. Hijama can also be done on other suitable days. If you value the Sunnah dates, book them; if you want or need Hijama on another suitable day, do not put yourself off.

Do I have to fast before Sunnah Hijama?

You do not need to fast all day. For Herts Cupping Hijama appointments, we ask you to leave at least 2 hours without food before the session and stay well hydrated. This is our clinic preparation guidance for Hijama.

Are there fixed Sunnah points everybody must have?

There are authentic reports about some areas, but we do not use a rigid disease-by-point chart. Point selection still considers suitability and why you booked.

Can ladies book on Sunnah days?

Female practitioner availability is for Hijama only and is limited. Please WhatsApp before booking so availability can be confirmed.

Why can Islamic-calendar dates differ by a day?

Hijri months can differ depending on the calendar method or local moon sighting. We publish the dates used by Herts Cupping and update them when the month is confirmed.

Want next month’s dates without checking back?

Ask us to send the next verified Sunnah Hijama dates on WhatsApp.

We do not auto-publish an unverified Hijri conversion. Dates are checked month by month because calendar methods and local moon sighting can differ by a day.
