Manual massage
Deep tissue or softer hands-on techniques form the foundation. Pressure is adjusted throughout the session.

Hands-on sports/deep tissue-style treatment for everyday back, neck, shoulder or leg tightness. Targeted Recovery keeps massage central, with IASTM or dry cupping added only when a different input is useful.
You do not need to know our treatment names
Many new clients find Herts Cupping while searching for sports massage, deep tissue massage or help with a tight back, neck, shoulders or legs. That is a perfectly sensible place to start. Firm hands-on work remains the foundation of our Muscle Recovery sessions.
The advantage is choice. If the same area has already been massaged repeatedly, feels different through movement or needs a more focused treatment input, we can use dry cupping or IASTM where appropriate. If massage is all that is needed, the session can stay hands-on. More tools are useful only when the treatment decision is better.
What I look for before choosing the method
A client may point to one shoulder while the upper back, chest or opposite side is doing more of the compensating. A lower-back complaint may sit alongside tight hips, glutes or hamstrings. In training clients, the area that feels painful is not always the area that changes most when we start working.
That is why the appointment begins with a conversation and a simple movement check rather than a fixed massage sequence. This is not a diagnosis. It is practitioner judgement about where the hands-on work should be focused and whether another method genuinely adds value.
Appointments take place in St Albans and are used by clients travelling from Harpenden, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Radlett, Potters Bar and across Hertfordshire.
Several methods in one clinic
What gets used depends on the problem area, pressure preference and whether wet cupping is part of the booking.
Deep tissue or softer hands-on techniques form the foundation. Pressure is adjusted throughout the session.
Dry cupping uses suction and may be applied statically, moved across the skin or used with movement.
Smooth metal tools are used for precise work over stubbornly restricted areas, normally alongside massage.
Used to warm larger muscle groups, support circulation between techniques and settle the area at the end.
A calmer full-body session with light to medium pressure and no recovery tools unless requested.
Wet cupping with separate preparation and aftercare, available alone or within selected combined sessions.
More methods only matter when they are used selectively
Pressure matters, but so do angle, time, movement and the type of treatment input. The session can stay simple or change method when there is a clear reason.
Who this page is for
The treatment is built around the problem, activity and amount of area involved rather than a fixed menu routine.
Desk work, driving, lifting and repeated positions often bring clients in for firm focused massage rather than a general full-body appointment.
Gym clients, runners and active people often search for sports massage first. We can keep the session massage-led or add cupping and IASTM where useful.
If previous massage has helped temporarily, we look at the wider loading pattern and can change the treatment input rather than automatically repeating more of the same.

Before you book
You do not need to decide whether cupping or IASTM is needed before the appointment.
Yes. Firm sports massage-style and deep tissue hands-on work form the foundation of Muscle Recovery sessions. The booking name is Muscle Recovery because the appointment can also include dry cupping, IASTM or percussion where useful.
No. Those methods are optional and are only used when they fit the area, your preference and the treatment plan. A session can remain hands-on throughout.
Tell us what normally improves, how long the change lasts and what brings the tightness back. We can then decide whether to repeat massage, work connected areas or use a different treatment input.
Choose 60 minutes for one main region. Choose 90 minutes when several connected areas need meaningful time rather than rushing across them.
The clinic is in St Albans and serves clients across Hertfordshire. Sessions are private, one-to-one and available seven days a week.

Book by the area and time. We will keep the treatment as simple as it needs to be and explain any additional method before using it.
Need a sooner or different time? The online calendar is live, but it is not always the full picture. If nothing suitable shows, message us 24/7 and we will check whether an additional or same-day slot can be accommodated.
