Direct answer

What is alternative therapy?

Alternative therapy is a broad term for treatment used outside conventional medical care. Complementary therapy is used alongside medical care, physiotherapy, rehabilitation or exercise.

Herts Cupping is not a general wellness centre. The specialism is clear: Hijama, dry and fire cupping, IASTM and firm recovery work.

Why people look for another route

Most are not trying to reject conventional care. They simply want another useful option.

The best starting point depends on what you have already tried, whether the issue has been assessed and what you actually want from a hands-on session.

After massage that felt short-lived

You still want firm hands-on work but also want the option of suction or tool-assisted treatment when useful.

Alongside physiotherapy or rehab

Exercises and rehabilitation remain important, but a muscular area still feels guarded or overloaded and hands-on recovery is appropriate.

Several methods in one clinic

You value having massage-style recovery work, cupping, IASTM and Hijama available without visiting several practitioners.

Traditional therapy

You specifically want Hijama or fire cupping explained professionally without myths, fear-based claims or miracle promises.

You know the problem, not the treatment

You can describe what feels tight or overloaded and let us guide the treatment choice rather than self-diagnosing.

Privacy and trust

You want a dedicated one-to-one clinic with clear boundaries, sterile Hijama equipment and transparent pricing.

Safety and scope

Complementary therapy has limits.

The clinic does not diagnose medical conditions or claim to replace doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths or chiropractors. Some clients use our work as an alternative hands-on option; others use it alongside rehabilitation or medical care.

Severe, unexplained or rapidly worsening pain, new weakness, persistent numbness, significant trauma, major swelling, fever, breathing difficulty or changes to bladder/bowel control need appropriate assessment first.

Common questions

Alternative and complementary therapy questions.

Is this meant to replace massage, physio or medical care?

No. Some clients use our work instead of a standard massage because they want a different hands-on approach. Others use it alongside rehabilitation or medical care. New or concerning symptoms still need appropriate assessment.

What makes the clinic different from a normal massage clinic?

Firm manual work is available, but the practitioner can also use dry or fire cupping, IASTM and Hijama where those methods genuinely fit the goal.

Do I need to choose the therapy before booking?

No. Tell us what you feel, how long it has been present and what you have already tried. We can translate that into the most sensible booking option.

Can cupping complement physiotherapy?

Some clients use focused recovery work alongside strengthening or rehabilitation when muscular tightness remains an issue. We do not replace a prescribed rehabilitation plan.

Where do you see clients from?

The clinic is in St Albans and serves Hertfordshire including Harpenden, Hatfield, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Welwyn Garden City, Radlett, Potters Bar and surrounding areas.
