Recovery Sessions

When cupping alone isn't enough, combining it with targeted muscle work can lead to better results. These sessions add muscle scraping and manual release to go deeper into the muscle and fascia. We're the only clinic in Hertfordshire offering this combination.

Every session includes: Full physical assessment, sterile single-use setup, tailored multi-technique treatment, and written aftercare guidance.
Goes deeper than cupping alone

Recovery Session

When standard cupping isn't enough

Combines cupping with muscle scraping and hands-on work to release deeper tension and improve movement. Designed for issues that keep coming back.

Best for: Persistent tightness, desk posture, gym recovery, and pain that standard cupping or massage hasn't fully shifted.

How Recovery Sessions Help

Most of the issues below have one thing in common: the tension is deeper than surface muscle. That's why massage or basic cupping gives temporary relief but doesn't hold. Here's what's actually going on and how we address it.

Desk Posture & Upper Back Strain

What you feel

Tight shoulders, stiff upper back, tension that builds through the day. Massage loosens it for a day or two but it comes straight back.

Why it persists

Hours of sitting causes the fascia around the upper back and shoulders to lock down. Standard massage works the surface but can't reach the fascial layer underneath.

What we do

We use muscle scraping (IASTM) to break through the restricted fascia, then cupping to decompress the tissue and restore blood flow. The combination reaches deeper than either technique alone. That's why it holds longer.

Lower Back Pain That Keeps Returning

What you feel

Aching or stiffness in the lower back. Worse after sitting, standing, or sleeping. You've tried everything but it keeps coming back.

Why it persists

Lower back pain is rarely just about one muscle. It usually involves layers of fascia, deep stabiliser muscles, and sometimes referred tension from the hips and glutes. Treating the surface doesn't address what's underneath.

What we do

We assess where the tension is actually coming from, then work through the layers. Cupping lifts and decompresses the tissue. Muscle scraping targets adhesions in the fascia. Manual work addresses the deeper stabilisers. Combined, they address the full picture.

Gym Recovery & Training Soreness

What you feel

Persistent soreness after training, tightness that limits your range of motion, or a muscle that just won't recover between sessions.

Why it persists

Intense training creates micro-damage and inflammation. If the tissue doesn't fully recover between sessions, the fascia tightens around the area to protect it. Over time, this restriction compounds and limits movement.

What we do

Cupping draws fresh blood into the area and flushes out waste products. Muscle scraping breaks through the fascial restriction so the muscle can lengthen properly. Clients who train regularly often book recovery sessions every 3 to 4 weeks to stay on top of it.

Neck Stiffness & Tension Headaches

What you feel

Stiff neck, limited ability to turn your head, headaches that start at the base of the skull or behind the eyes. Often worse with stress or screen time.

Why it persists

The muscles at the base of the skull and along the cervical spine become chronically tight, often pulling on the fascia around the scalp. Massage can relieve the surface tension but doesn't address the fascial restriction driving it.

What we do

Careful muscle scraping along the upper traps and sub-occipital muscles to release the restriction. Cupping to decompress the tissue and improve circulation. Manual work on the trigger points that refer pain into the head. Most clients feel a significant difference after one session.

Restricted Mobility & Stiffness

What you feel

You can't move as freely as you used to. Bending, reaching, or rotating feels limited. Morning stiffness that takes a while to ease.

Why it persists

Fascial adhesions build up over time from inactivity, poor posture, or old injuries. They act like internal glue, binding layers of tissue together and restricting how far the muscle can stretch.

What we do

Muscle scraping specifically targets fascial adhesions. Cupping separates the tissue layers and restores slide between them. Manual work mobilises the joints. The result is noticeably improved range of motion, often within a single session.

Pain That Massage Hasn't Fixed

What you feel

You've had multiple massages, physio, or other treatments. It helps temporarily but the pain always returns. You're not sure what else to try.

Why it persists

If the issue is in the fascia rather than the muscle, surface-level treatments will only give temporary relief. The restriction underneath is still there, pulling the tissue back into the same pattern.

What we do

We combine techniques that work at different tissue depths. Cupping works on the muscle and superficial fascia. Muscle scraping works on the deeper fascial adhesions. Manual therapy works on trigger points and joint restriction. This layered approach is why clients often get results where other treatments haven't.

What Happens During a Session?

Every session follows a structured process. We don't just apply cups and send you home.

  • 1. Assessment We talk through your symptoms, goals, and medical history. This is where we figure out exactly what's going on and which combination of techniques will work best.
  • 2. Manual Release Targeted deep tissue work and therapeutic percussion to relax the fascia and prepare the tissue for cupping and muscle scraping.
  • 3. Muscle Scraping (IASTM) Medical-grade tools are used to mobilise soft tissue and break down stubborn adhesions. It reaches restrictions that hands alone can't get to.
  • 4. Cupping Dynamic (gliding) cupping to decompress tissue, followed by static cupping. You choose dry cupping or wet cupping (Hijama) depending on your preference.
  • 5. Aftercare Clear written guidance on what to expect, how to look after any marks, and what to do in the days after. We're always a message away.

The Techniques We Use

Each session uses a combination of these, tailored to what your body needs on the day.

Clinical Cupping

Creates negative pressure to lift the fascia, increase blood flow, and decompress tight muscle fibres. Available as dry cupping (suction only), dynamic cupping (gliding with oil), or wet cupping (Hijama). We choose the method based on your assessment.

Muscle Scraping (IASTM)

Medical-grade steel tools break down scar tissue and fascial adhesions that standard massage can't reach. We're the only clinic in Hertfordshire offering this alongside cupping therapy.

Manual & Deep Tissue Work

Targeted hands-on work to release tension, improve mobility, and prepare tissue for deeper instrument work. Combined with therapeutic percussion where needed.

Looking for cupping on its own? Our standalone Hijama (wet cupping) sessions start from £45 and dry cupping from £35.
