Hijama and recovery for cricketers in Hertfordshire

Bowling, batting and long fielding sessions load the shoulders, lower back and legs differently. Sessions can use Hijama alone or combine it with dry cupping, IASTM and firm recovery work.

Cricket-specific recovery

Bowling, batting and fielding load the body in different ways.

A cricketer may repeat high-speed shoulder rotation, hold a batting stance, sprint, dive and spend long periods in one fielding position during the same match. Across a season, the same shoulder, lower back, hamstrings and hips can feel increasingly heavy or restricted.

Muscle Recovery treatment does not diagnose an injury or replace strength and conditioning. It gives loaded muscular areas focused attention using firm manual work, dry cupping, IASTM and optional Hijama when those methods fit the athlete and the fixture schedule.

Recovery across a long season

The load accumulates because cricket repeats the same actions under fatigue.

A bowler may feel the shoulder first, yet the action also uses the lats, trunk, hips and landing leg. A batter may report lower-back tightness while the hips and hamstrings are also carrying hours of stance and rotation. Treating the connected pattern is more useful than placing cups only where the player points.

Clients often describe feeling looser or lighter after Hijama or combined recovery, but that response is not guaranteed and it does not prove an injury has healed. Sleep, hydration, workload management, strength and appropriate clinical care remain more important across the season. Muscle Recovery treatment should complement those basics, not become the only strategy.

Treat the loaded pattern

The session follows the demands of your role in the team.

A bowler, wicketkeeper and batter may all book recovery, but the same routine would not make sense for each of them.

Bowling and throwing

Shoulder, lats and upper back

Repeated rotation and overhead work can load the shoulder complex, lats, traps and the working side of the back.

Batting and long spells

Lower back, hips and glutes

Sustained stance, rotation and repeated flexion can leave the lower back and hips feeling tight between fixtures.

Running and fielding

Hamstrings, calves and legs

Acceleration, changes of direction and long periods on the field can build load through the posterior chain and lower legs.

Plan around the fixtures

Recovery timing should support the week, not disrupt it.

Wet cupping and deep treatment need recovery time. Do not place a first or intense session immediately before an important match.

Between matches

A targeted session can focus on the area carrying the most load when there is enough time for it to settle before the next fixture.

After a heavy block

A longer session may suit the end of several matches or demanding nets when tightness is spread across the body.

Before competition

Allow several days for first-time Hijama. If you already know your response, still leave at least 48 to 72 hours.

Injury concerns

Fresh pain, swelling, weakness, loss of power or a suspected strain needs assessment by an appropriate clinician first.

Standalone Hijama

Choose this when wet cupping is the main recovery method you want and muscular work is not the priority.

Muscle Recovery

Choose this when the loaded muscles need firm work and you also want Hijama within the same appointment.

Recovery is not return-to-play clearance

A fresh cricket injury needs proper assessment before bodywork.

Seek physiotherapy or medical assessment for acute pain, swelling, bruising, weakness, reduced power or symptoms that change your action. Treatment here supports muscular recovery; it does not diagnose an injury or clear you to play.
