How It's Used
Where Percussion Fits in a Session
Percussion is not the main method in a session. It is used at specific points to enhance the work being done by the other methods.
Session warm-up
Applied at the start to increase blood flow and warm the tissue before deep manual work begins. Helps the muscle respond better to pressure, particularly on cold or very tight tissue.
Between techniques
Used to maintain circulation between rounds of manual massage and cupping, or to help the tissue recover between areas of deeper work.
Post-training soreness
Clients with heavy DOMS or training fatigue often benefit from percussion across larger muscle groups at the start of a session before hands-on work begins.
End-of-session finish
Light percussion used at the end to help the body come out of deeper work gradually and promote a relaxation response in the treated areas.
Important note: Percussion is not offered as a standalone 60-minute session here. It works best as part of a broader session alongside manual massage, cupping and IASTM. If you are looking for a full recovery session that includes percussion, book a Targeted Recovery or Full Body Recovery session.

FAQs
Common Questions
What is percussion massage?
A handheld device delivering rapid vibrations into muscle tissue. Used to warm up tissue, clear post-training soreness and support recovery. At this clinic it is used as part of a full session, not as a standalone treatment.
Is it the same as using a massage gun at home?
Similar tool, different context. Applied by a practitioner within a structured session alongside massage, cupping and IASTM, it serves a more targeted role. Home devices are useful for general maintenance but cannot replicate a full hands-on session.
Can I book a session just for percussion?
No. Percussion is part of a broader Recovery Session. If you want to include it, book a Targeted Recovery or Full Body Recovery session.
Is percussion massage painful?
No. It feels like rapid vibration. Intensity can be adjusted. On very tight or sore areas it can feel more noticeable, but it should not cause pain.
How much does a session cost?
Targeted Recovery (60 min) is £75. Full Body Recovery (90 min) is £110. Sessions with Hijama from £95. Returning clients within 8 weeks receive a reduced rate.
